From Code to Strategy

As I prepare for my interviews for a Product Manager role, one of the first questions I came across was: Why am I transitioning from a developer role to a PM?

It feels like the right place to start—not just to answer the interviewer but to reflect on this shift for myself.

The answer is simple. Since joining this company as a frontend developer, I’ve never been satisfied with just coding and completing assigned tasks. Or rather, I always did, but two questions kept surfacing in my mind: Why and How.

  • Why this feature and not another?
  • Why am I coding this feature without a design reference?
  • How is this feature adding value to the product?

More than anything, I want to step beyond my current role. I want to see the bigger picture, help shape decisions, and make sure the products we build truly matter. That’s what drives me. That’s what brought me here. And now, I’m just at the beginning of this journey.
